Education & Training Committee news from Committee Chair Fraser Pearce

It was a real honour to be asked to chair the EACTP’s Education and Training Committee (ETC) at such an exciting time in our development and my first task must to be to send a big thank you to my predecessor Alan Tilley for all his tireless and significant efforts.

The committee has been busy juggling the primary objectives of launching the examination based training and on-line learning programme with the age old challenge of finding a solution that is both affordable and credible amongst our current and future membership and sponsor community. We think we have now found that solution. This has involved the ETC in a positive change of direction to ensure overall timelines do not slip and we are delighted to announce the forthcoming launch of the EACTP’s own learning management system (LMS) with online portal which will allow our members and new examination candidate’s access to a repository for educational materials and testing documents. The new European LMS will bring Europe into line with the US and the CTP qualifications and we are extremely grateful to our colleagues at TMA Global for their support and cooperation in delivering this exciting and new program here in Europe.

This will provide recommended self-study materials leading to examinations across finance & accounting, management and Law examinations leading to the Certified Turnaround Analyst qualification. Messaging functionality, webcast and other discussion and chat features will also be announced when we have more information. The system promises to deliver, over time, a modern learning experience fit for the 21st Century.

The programme will begin with the first two modules management and finance & accounting and will open to applicants shortly in 2016 as planned and the ETC will make a separate announcement before the summer with more details for applicants. November 2016 remains our objective for the first examinations across our European membership. Work continues on the European Legal module.

We are working closely with our partners to offer the initial courses at competitive rates which we will announce as soon as we can. The learning materials are scheduled to be made available in July and EACTP candidates will be able to purchase these from the TMA Global Website.

This is a really exciting time for the EACTP as we transition to an examination based membership entry system and play a full role in training and accrediting the next generation of turnaround professionals. Watch this space…..
