EACTP Mastermind: Balancing Financial Sustainability with Social Purpose

Can social purpose survive a depleted balance sheet?

In the social care and charity sectors, a crisis rarely begins with a single event. It develops gradually through unexplained deficits, shrinking reserves, and delayed strategic decisions. In the operational reality of a distressed charity, delaying intervention depletes reserves and jeopardises vulnerable beneficiaries.

When governance weakens and non-profit organisations face distress, how do turnaround professionals navigate the intersection of fiduciary duty and charitable mission to prove a regulated entity is still viable?

The Masterclass:

Join David Hole, CTP (Interim CEO, CRO, and turnaround practitioner, as he dissects the operational and governance realities of managing charity deficits.

Drawing on over 35 years of turnaround, restructuring and crisis leadership experience, David addresses a fundamental challenge: preserving social purpose requires immediate financial visibility and a strict separation of operational recovery from strategic restructuring.

He reveals how to navigate statutory scrutiny and execute complex turnaround mechanisms in heavily regulated third-sector environments.

Session Thesis:

"Effective governance is the bridge between financial sustainability and social purpose."

You will learn:

  • Governance Under Pressure: How to identify early warning indicators of governance breakdown and reserve depletion before options become limited.
  • The Financial Backbone: How to implement 13-week cashflow forecasting to secure immediate financial visibility and stabilise operations.
  • Strategic Separation: Methodologies to separate day-to-day operational recovery execution from board-level strategic restructuring.
  • The Credibility Factor: How to manage communications with regulators, trustees, and vulnerable beneficiaries to maintain stakeholder confidence.
  • Protecting Mission-Critical Services: Frameworks to execute complex restructuring mechanisms, including pre-pack administrations, whilst preserving continuity of care.

The Mastermind will conclude with EACTP's Bright Minds Together session, providing an opportunity for peer discussion and the exchange of practical restructuring and turnaround insights.
